“Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return.” –Mary Jean Iron
I found this wonderful poem above and it was just what I needed – a beautiful reminder to appreciate every little moment of today. A normal kind of day. Having coffee in the morning while my little one played with her crayons and decorated our kitchen walls once again. Running errands. Greeting people and smiling. Fresh air. The impromptu snowfall. Zara’s red cheeks and big smile. Her fascination with snowflakes. Her red mittens. Our hilarious we-are-not-throwing-food-on-the-kitchen-floor lunch together. My homemade French onion soup. Washing up Zara in the kitchen sink. Failed attempts at sweeping floors. Some much appreciated moments of silence and rest. My husband’s call this afternoon saying he’s coming home sooner than expected and that he misses us. A precious normal day.
Hope you’re having a wonderful normal Friday too!
Enjoy it to the fullest,
